"When you are interested in targetfishing it is very important to get your choosen fish on your bait. Obvious, but not all fish, even the bigger ones or especially old common carp of the old long strains, will feed on the same type or size of bait. Some bait will probably be totally ignored. For example, when you fish and prebait exclusivly with sweet 22mm Fruitboilies, that means just this size and texture of bait without any particles, etc., it could be that you will never get all fish of the waters stock on the bait, even the bait is made of high class DD Bait ingredients. For some individual carp the bait could be too big, too sweet, etc.
Carp are very individual fish. They have individual preverences and types of feeding. Some are very focussed on small natural food, some on crayfish or mussels. Most of the time the "mussel/crayfish carp" are very easy to catch with bigger boilies, but the other so called "sensitive specialists" need other tactics than to throw the same boilie in the water all the time.
But what does this mean for our fishing? When I start on a new water I allways try to fish with total different bait on each rod an prebait a mixture of small particles, small fishmealboilies and bigger fruitboilies. For example a 14mm boilie made of DD Bait Elipsemix without flavour but with seasalt and a natural attraktor like DNA Liverpowder on the first rod. A single tigernut or unflavoured but fermented maize on the next one and a big 24mm extrem sweet boilie (made of Midimix) with an all time classic flavour like DD Bait Scopex or maple cream on the third one ( when allowed).
This variation of bait (texture, size, type) on your rods will give you better chances to get more fish on the bank, because you will learn what the preverences are on your water. But do not only vary with the bait, try different riglengths or waterdeths (even the very deep and very shallow areas under one metre).
